ABOUT US

Goal Project (Generating Learning Opportunities in Logistics, by its acronym in Spanish) represents an effort to spread and make fun learning logistics concepts.

Traditionally, one of the greatest difficulties in teaching logistics is that a huge majority of universities have organized their programs in such way that the knowledge they offer is functionally fragmented. Regularly there are specific subjects where it is taught: forecasts, inventory, linear programming, scheduling, among others. But we will hardly find contents that link this knowledge and teach us to think of the application of two or more different techniques to solve a problem. Our way of teaching logistics has created fragmented visions of reality when in fact this science should give an integrative vision.

Moreover, the techniques and models used in these topics require experience, skills and mathematical knowledge, which for many students means an arid phase in which it is difficult to assimilate the content.

Finally, even if the students have been able to overcome these difficulties and to distinguish production problems, inventory problems, optimization problems, etc., when facing the real world, they have trouble involving at the same time many of these functional areas and need to manage the interfaces between them.

GOAL is a project that has two main objectives:

  1. Incorporate a business game where students will have the opportunity to make decisions in the area of logistics; and
  2. Develop in the student solid knowledge in which he can support himself when faced with the real world.
